In Celebration of the Life of Rev. Vahac Mardirosian

Rev. Vahac was called to go with our Lord on Saturday, August 17, 2018. Vahac was a pastor who served for many years in our Region and also in our American Baptist family, in 1958-1959 he was president of Mexican Convention of the Southwest, and in 1984-1986. In 1959 - 1970, under his leadership of the Mexican Convention, the name was changed to: Hispanic Convention of the Southwest, he was appointed as missionary by the Mexican Baptist churches of the South of California, and Hispanic Regional minister by the American Baptist churches of the Pacific Southwest.  In 1971 was appointed as director of Hispanic Urban Center, after the missionary Troyer's he was the Hispanic executive area minister, and after the Seminary of the west was closed in Covina, he was appointed as the director of Theological education by Los Angeles City Mission Society.


Vahac Mardirosian was pastor of different Hispanic churches in California, he also walked with Cesar Chavez in the fields of Oxnard, and San Joaquin Valley. Later he initiated the Parents Institute, a non profit organization who worked with the public schools educating the parents to get involved with the schools and advocate for their children, he opened different Parents Institutes in different cities.    


Rev. Vahac retired with his wife Eunice and lived in Carlsbad, San Diego California when the Lord called him to His glory.  


We will miss Rev. Vahac, a beloved husband, tender father, compassionate pastor, and community leader. Psalm 116:4, 15
