Melanie Baggao - Global Servant to Lebanon is back in the U.S. She'll be in the area and would love to visit churches and connect with pastors while she's here. Invite her to a midweek gathering, or a meal, or connect with her at the ABCOFLASH Annual Meeting. Here's her most recent letter:
Back in the US...
I am finally back in the US for home assignment. "Home Assignment", also known as a furlough, is a time when global servants return to their passport country to rest, update partnering donors and churches about ministry, spend time with family, and sometimes attend to medical needs. My last home assignment was in 2019 - before the revolution in Lebanon, COVID, and the economic crisis - so I have a lot to share. My time in the US will last until the first week of January 2023. I will visit 10 states and share at 18 churches, conferences, and Bible Studies (scheduled so far). If this sounds busy, it is! In the month of Aug, I anticipate driving over 2,200 miles!
All that being said, I would appreciate it if you could join me in:
- Praying for my travels. Most of the traveling I will do alone, so please pray for attentiveness on the road and safety.
- Praying for my health. Thank God, I think I have managed to get over jet lag. Please pray for a good night's rest between staying at different accommodations and long drives. Please pray for my voice as I will speak a lot. Also, pray that I will not get COVID
- Praying that I can accurately and creatively share what God wants me to share. Sometimes I only have ten minutes to share, sometimes I have two hours. Lebanon has changed A LOT since I last visited. The current reality is very hard and depressing, but God is still doing miracles in the midst of the mess. Please pray that I can share these two things faithfully.
- Praying for my ministries in Lebanon. One of the hardest things about being Stateside is being unable to be with INSAAF, Nancy, and her neighborhood, and involved with my local church in Beirut. It was challenging to delegate and let go of some responsibilities before I left. Pray that God will give me peace about the things He is continuing to do in Lebanon without me there.
- Practically, I have an essential need: The plans to borrow a car for several months have fallen through the last minute. Thank God that I think I have sorted out my transportation needs for Aug. so far, but I am in need of a car to borrow in Southern California from Sept. 8 through Oct. 10. This can be split into chunks of several days. It will be driven just in Orange and LA Counties with two days out to San Bernardino county. I also have insurance that will cover me and any possible damages to the car. Please let me know if you have any leads.
- Another practical need I have: I am looking for a "home" for a very beloved bookshelf with glass doors. It's the only piece of furniture I still want to hold on to whenever I move back to the US. Since 2015, two great family friends have stored it/used it and now it needs to go somewhere else. If you live in Southern California and would like to house my bookshelf and use it, please let me know.

ABCOFLASH ANNUAL MEETING - OCTOBER 6-8, 2022
|
|
One of the features of this year's Annual Meeting is Rev. Michael Beck from FRESH EXPRESSIONS! Fresh Expressions is a global movement of churches that seek to find new and creative ways to reach people for Christ. Rev. Beck has led his church to create thirteen new Christian communities in Wildwood, Florida. Fresh Expressions allows leaders and pastors to use traditional services and innovative forms of church to live out Christ's mission. One does not replace the other but creates a mutual benefit for both-a "mixed economy of church." Click here to visit the Fresh Expressions website.
Let's discover together FRESH ways to be the church at this year's Annual Meeting through Michael Becks' presentations, Larry Acosta's message, and the Saturday workshops.
Watch for Annual Meeting details that are coming soon!
